Vodafone unbundles Auckland two months early

6 Nov 2008

Vodafone has completed the Auckland section of its ‘Red Network’. The company’s own ADS2+ and VDSL2+ gear is now installed in all of Auckland’s 40 telephone exchanges and covers 88% of Auckland lines, almost two months ahead of the schedule. Vodafone said other centres will be unbundled over the next year, but has not provided a specific timetable.

‘This is a great day for broadband customers in Auckland as it demonstrates our commitment to offering true competition right across the city.’ said Vodafone’s chief marketing officer Mark Rushworth, ‘Now our attention will turn to the rest of the country and we are actively looking at opportunities in both wholesale and unbundling in all the main centres.’
