Net profit up 38% for Partner in 3Q

Israeli cellco Partner Communications has announced its financial results for the three months ended 30 September 2008, revealing a 38% rise in net profit for the quarter. Partner posted net income for the period of ILS296 million (USD77.7 million), compared to ILS214 million a year earlier, while revenues also rose 2.2% year-on-year to ILS1.64 billion. In an effort to boost revenues further Partner is expected to launch new services in 2009, including e-mail access, Wi-Fi, fixed line calling through voice-over-broadband (VoB) and multimedia services. For the three-month period the cellco’s subscriber base also saw positive growth, adding 36,000 customers to bring its total to 2.88 million, 901,000 of which take 3G services.
