Leap losses continue

Leap Wireless International said it lost USD48.8 million in 3Q 2008 compared with USD43.3 million over the same three months last year. Leap said the figure included USD49.4 million of initial operating losses for new market launch activity and expansion of its mobile broadband service. Revenue rose 21% to USD496.7 while the operator added 156,000 net customers in the quarter, ending the period with nearly 3.5 million customers, up from 2.7 million a year ago. Churn declined to 4.2% from 5.2% a year ago.
