FastWeb added 178,000 new clients in the first nine months of 2008, with a 14% increase in its customer base compared with the end of 2007. The company reported 43,000 net additions in the third quarter as its net loss narrowed to EUR2.1 million (USD2.72 million) from a EUR18.1 million loss a year earlier. Revenue increased 21% year-on-year to EUR426.8 million in the three months to 30 September. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 36% to EUR127.3 million, from EUR93.6 million in the same period twelve months previously.

FastWeb’s parent company, Swisscom also reported its third quarter revenue rose 3.5% year-on-year, helped by the Italian operator’s strong growth.
