Swisscom reports 3Q results

5 Nov 2008

Swisscom’s EBITDA fell 3.6% in the third quarter of 2008, on the back of heavy iPhone launch costs and falling tariffs. The launch of the iPhone led to above-average growth in clients in the three months ended 30 September 2008, however, with over 100,000 handsets sold, but the launch had CHF45 million (USD38.4 million) one-off costs. Swisscom’s EBITDA fell to CHF1.19 billion, while net profit declined to CHF473 million, down 31.5% compared with the third quarter of 2007, when an extraordinary gain from the sale of two business units boosted Swisscom’s bottom line.
