Sonaecom posted a third quarter net profit of EUR4.1 million (USD5.2 million), down 46% on the same period twelve months previously. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 1.7% to EUR48.2 million. Revenue grew 8.9% to EUR251.3 million.
The company’s mobile operator Optimus ended the quarter with 3.05 million customers, up 10.8% from 2.76 million at the same point in 2007.
Sonaecom said it will continue its investment plans despite the turmoil in financial markets. The company has said it plans to invest EUR240 million over the next three years to build a next generation fibre network.
