Megacable reports 44% increase in 3Q revenues; net profit down marginally

Mexico’s largest cable operator by subscribers, Megacable, has announced a 2% drop in net profit to MXN518 million (USD40.2 million) for the three months ended 30 September 2008; the operator attributed the lower growth in the period to a tax credit received in the same quarter last year. Revenue growth was strong for the period however, climbing 44% year-on-year to reach MXN1.47 billion, with the operator reporting significant increases in subscriber figures across all areas of service; television, internet and telephony subscribers were up 46%, 28% and 198% respectively y-o-y.
