In the three months ended 30 September 2008 France Telecom reported a 2.3% increase in sales to EUR13.55 billion (USD17.32 billion) compared to the same period of 2007, on the back of solid growth in mobile services. The group’s Personal Communication Services (PCS) segment reported a 5.1% increase in revenues to EUR7.6 billion thanks to a 12% increase in subscribers and an 18.1% jump in data services, particularly non-SMS revenues. The number of mobile broadband customers globally rose sharply to 23.2 million compared to 12.8 million a year earlier. Quarterly revenue from the Home Communication Services segment fell 1.2% to EUR5.71 billion; the steady decline in traditional telephony services was largely offset by steady growth in the use of ADSL broadband and multimedia services. Enterprise Communication Services recorded quarterly sales growth of 1.2%. Gross operating margin rose by 0.7% to EUR5.091 billion while net debt at the end of September 2008 was stable at EUR38.2 billion.
