Telmex Internacional, the Mexican holding company with subsidiaries in Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Ecuador, has posted a 40.1% fall in third-quarter net profit compared to the same period of 2007 as a result of higher costs. Net profit fell to MXN1.16 billion (USD86.5million) compared to MXN1.93 billion a year ago. Revenues were MXN19.6 billion, up 14.4% year on year compared to MXN17.1 billion. EBITDA rose 1.7% to MXN4.84 billion. Costs increased by 17.6% compared to the same quarter last year due to interconnections costs, mainly in Brazil as well as greater operating costs due to the increased number of customers in Brazil, Colombia and Argentina.
