Avea predicts boost from MNP

27 Oct 2008

The Turkish cellular operator Avea says it is hoping the introduction of mobile number portability (MNP) will help it attract as many as 2.5 million new customers. Avea forecasts that between six million and nine million Turkish mobile phone users will change operators now that they can retain their original number while transferring between providers. Majority owned by fixed line operator Turk Telecom, Avea could claim around eleven million subscribers and a 17% share of the Turkish cellular market at the end of June 2008, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
