NII Holdings has reported consolidated operating revenues of USD1.2 billion for the third quarter of 2008, representing a 38% increase over the same period last year. The Company reported consolidated operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA), for the quarter of USD331 million, up 40% on the same period twelve months previously. Operating income stood at USD219 million, a 37% increase year-on-year, and net income was USD92 million, a 12% increase over the third quarter of 2007. Total capital expenditures were USD205 million during the third quarter of 2008, largely related to investments in network capacity and geographic expansion in those markets.
During the quarter, the Company added 394,500 net subscribers, resulting in a customer base of over 5.8 million, a 33% increase on the figure reported at the end of the third quarter of 2007. NII Holdings’ average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) was USD59 for the third quarter, while churn was 1.87%, down from 1.89% in the previous quarter.
