eircom admonished by ComReg over Vodafone offer

24 Oct 2008

Ireland’s telecoms regulator ComReg has openly criticised former monopoly fixed line provider eircom for providing Vodafone Ireland with a bundled (voice and broadband) wholesale service without first publishing the terms and conditions of the offer in accordance with the country’s telecoms rules on standards and transparency obligations. In its statement, ComReg admonished eircom for not updating its Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) with the terms and conditions of the wholesale call origination, wholesale call termination and wholesale call transit products used to implement the offering being used by Vodafone. The regulator went on to say that the former monopoly had still failed to rectify the situation and called on it to resolve the matter of its non-compliance immediately.
