State-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has extended its deal with California-based networking solutions provider UTStarcom for building its broadband infrastructure network, Sify is reporting. The extended agreement is for a second phase deployment of 1.1 million broadband lines in 962 cities across the country; UTStarcom has already installed 1.3 million as part of its original contract with BSNL. ‘We worked closely with BSNL to successfully complete phase one of this multi-play broadband network, and we are pleased that they have chosen to extend their relationship with us for phase two of the deployment,’ Vijay Yadav, vice president and managing director of UTStarcom’s South Asia operations said.
