Hutchison-owned cellular operator 3 Italia has signed a deal with Harmonic Inc for the provision of a video transcoding solution to form part of the cellco’s DVB-H mobile TV system. Harmonic will supply its Rhozet Carbon Coder solution, which automatically transcodes content to make it available to 3 Italia’s 850,000 mobile TV customers. Financial details were not disclosed.
