Leap expands in Georgia

14 Oct 2008

The US cellco Leap Wireless International has launched its Cricket wireless service in Savannah, Georgia, and Hilton Head, South Carolina, a region which is home to approximately 600,000 people. The Cricket network is now available to 62.3 million people across the US, Leap says. The launch in the Savannah area follows Leap’s acquisition of the cellular operations of Hargray Communications earlier this year. Doug Hutcheson, president and chief executive officer of Leap, commented: ‘This launch is another step toward our goal of doubling the size of our Cricket business by the end of 2010, and it continues to expand our presence along the eastern seaboard, which will ultimately reach from Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., through the Carolinas and Georgia.’
