Softbank adds more subscribers for 17th month in September

Japan’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers, Softbank Mobile, a unit of Softbank Corp, added more new users than its rivals on a net basis for the 17th month running in September. Softbank, which focuses on offering customers low call rates and running aggressive marketing campaigns, and which recently signed up to stock the Apple iPhone, added a net 142,800 users last month, beating the country’s leading operator NTT DoCoMo with 129,700 net additions, and second placed KDDI, which added 74,900. Japan’s number four operator eMobile added 59,300.
