Brazil was home to 24.3 million residential internet connections at the end of August, up 2.6% on the month of July and 26.1% higher than the figure reported at 31 August 2007, according to data published by Ibope/NetRatings. The increase is attributed in part to demand for online broadcasting of the Beijing Olympic Games in China. The pollstar added that the total number of people with access to the internet at home reached 36.3 million in August, up from 35.5 million registered in July.
