NZ Communications signs agreement with Vodafone

3 Oct 2008

NZ Communications (formerly known as Econet Wireless) has reached agreement with Vodafone New Zealand to place its transmission equipment on 116 Vodafone cell towers. An agreement about how NZ Communications’ mobile service will connect with Vodafone’s network has also been signed.

NZ Communications has been working towards a service launch for the last seven years, and chief executive Mike Reynolds is still refusing to reveal the company’s planned launch date, or how many cell towers it has built to date. He has, however, confirmed it is erecting towers in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
