Competition Commission rules Cosmofon must be sold

Macedonia’s Competition Commission has reportedly ruled that, on the issue of competition in the domestic mobile market, number two player Cosmofon will definitely have to be sold. Local news portal Kanel 5 writes that an official statement will be published in the next few days and that until then, there is no word on when the cellco will get a new owner. The Competition Commission has ruled that Deutsche Telekom’s acquisition of Greek national operator OTE (Cosmofon’s owner via Cosmote) will result in one company having a virtual monopoly over the Macedonian mobile market as the German firm also controls T-Mobile Macedonia.
