Following the completion of upgrades to its ADSL broadband network, UK operator Orange has announced that customers will now receive download speeds of up to 8Mbps as standard. The improved service has three levels, and the introductory level service, Home Starter, will be offered free of charge to all post-paid subscribers; subscribers can upgrade to higher level packages for an additional monthly charge. Additionally the operator is also offering broadband packages to non-subscribers, bundling fixed line services with the package that allow for free calls to Orange mobiles and landlines in the UK and 30 other countries. Mike Newnham, Vice President of Consumer for Orange UK said, ‘We have spent the past twelve months working hard on fixing the basics. As a result we’ve seen huge improvements in the quality of our broadband network and the service we offer.’
