VND1.2 trillion earmarked for basic telecom services provision

Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications has budgeted VND1.2 trillion (USD72 million) this year for the provision of basic telecom services by four companies. According to VietNamNet Bridge, VNPT will receive around VND744 billion to maintain and develop wireline services and internet access in disadvantaged areas, while EVN Telecom and Viettel Telecom will receive VND338 and VND108 billion for the same purposes. VND11 billion will be allocated to the Vietnam Marine Communication and Electronics Company (Vishipel) to provide communication services for fishing boats.
