Telecom Italia has selected Cisco and Adobe to provide next generation Web TV services. The telco is using Cisco’s Content Delivery System with Internet Streaming (CDS-IS) platform, as well as Adobe’s Flash streaming technology, to deliver live television channels and on-demand content through its web portal, Yalp! Customers will be able to watch high-quality, rich streaming media content via a laptop or PC.
Meanwhile, Italian alternative operator FastWeb has signed a deal with Disney-ABC-ESPN Television under which it will provide additional programming via its video-on-demand service. ‘We are very proud to be working with Disney to give our subscribers access to some of the hottest series on international TV,’ said Alessandro Petazzi, head of media and TV at FastWeb. The new deal covers TV series such as Lost and Criminal Minds.
