Schwarzenegger promotes safer driving

Authorities in California have banned text messaging from mobile phones while driving, making it the seventh US state to introduce such legislation. The ban follows an earlier law which prohibited drivers from speaking on a phone without a hands-free device. California’s Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, commented: ‘It further encourages safe and responsible driving. Banning electronic text messaging while driving will keep drivers’ hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road, making our roadways a safer place for all Californians.’
