Pannon sees the light with solar-powered cell sites

Hungarian mobile operator Pannon is installing solar cell powered base stations in the town of Baracska, Portfolio.hu reports. The operator is deploying 17 solar cell panels capable of providing half the energy needs for the transmission tower there. Pannon is keen to decrease its carbon footprint and in April this year announced it was cutting its carbon dioxide emissions by 24% by 2011.
