Japanese multiservice operator (MSO) Jupiter Telecommunications (J:COM) is considering offering a broadcast satellite-based TV service, Jiji Press reports citing a statement from its president, Tomoyuki Moriizumi. The MSO is understood to be considering acquiring one of the new broadcast satellite channels set to become available in 2011, when Japan’s TV broadcasting goes fully digital. Moriizumi said J:COM is hoping to broaden its customer base by starting the new service.
