Australian news source itWire is reporting that VoIP provider Engin will launch ADSL2+ services in October 2008, after delaying the commercial launch of its broadband offering from earlier this year. Having initially announced plans to enter the ADSL market in June 2007 Engin, majority owned by Australian TV network Seven Network, was hindered by cash flow problems due to the level of investment needed for the introduction of both ADSL services and its plans to resell TiVo device for Seven Network. Engin is set to enter the triple-play market now however, having raised AUD8.4 million (USD6.89 million) from Seven in April 2008 to help the keep the company afloat, alongside staff reductions of almost 50%. Revealing the plans in its annual report Engin claimed it would ‘enable customers to experience a very high quality voice and broadband services… and is expected to be margin accretive in the 2009 financial year.’
