Qtel of Qatar and Kuwait’s Noor Financial Investment have submitted bids for Oman’s second fixed line licence, reports MEED. Qtel says it wants the licence so that it can offer fixed line services, such as high speed internet access, alongside its existing wireless offering in the country. Nasser al-Merri, deputy chairman of Noor Financial Investment, says if his company wins, the licence will be operated by its Noortel subsidiary. Six bidders in total have been shortlisted, and the winner will be announced before the end of October.
