Eiffel tower sale falls through

29 Sep 2008

The Italian mobile operators Wind and 3 Italia (H3G) have failed to sell their jointly owned cellular tower network – dubbed Eiffel – to local firm Digital Multimedia Technologies (DMT). A statement released by DMT said: ‘DMT informs that the project of combination of the tower business of Wind Telecommunicazioni SpA and H3G SpA is definitively over.’ Wind had earlier hinted that the Eiffel sale would be postponed due to adverse market conditions. The network of around 18,000 mobile masts has been valued at around EUR1.5 billion (USD2.2 billion).
