Greek alternative broadband providers Hellas On Line (HOL) and Vivodi Telecom are in talks over a possible partnership deal, according to reporter.gr quoting Greek daily paper To Vima. The report notes that discussions have taken place about a potential merger although there has been no agreement between the two sides. Vivodi’s unbundled local loop (ULL) subscriber base reportedly lags behind rival ULL network operators ForthNet, Tellas, On Telecoms and HOL, at around 30,000. HOL, which has around 86,000 customers, is owned by Intracom, which also owns a 39% stake in a smaller ULL broadband operator, Athens-based Teledome, although in late 2007 it put on hold previously announced plans to consolidate Teledome and merge it with HOL. Cellco Vodafone Greece also offers ADSL broadband access over HOL’s ULL network.
