Treasury opposes Communications Ministry WiMAX model

According to Israeli online news source Globes, The Ministry of Finance is unconvinced by the Ministry of Communications’ proposal to use a reverse tender to allocate WiMAX licences. Under a reverse tender, winners will be selected on the basis of the lowest proposed end-user price per minute. The communications ministry believes that such a process has the best chance of reducing wireless broadband rates, but the Treasury is concerned about the ability of the winning operators to fulfil their obligations on the tariff over in the long-run.
