North-West Telecom net profit up 22%

Russian regional fixed line operator North-West Telecom, controlled by national telecoms group Svyazinvest, reported net profit for the first half of 2008 rose 22% compared to the same period last year to RUB2.04 billion (USD80 million). Revenue increased 4.3% to RUB12.46 billion driven in the main by internet and data sectors which rose 45.8% year-on-year to RUB2.21 billion. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 22.1% to RUB5.78 billion, while the EBITDA margin increased to 46.4%.
