Etisalat planning Iraqi acquisition

Etisalat has revealed that it plans to enter Iraq’s telecoms market before the end of 2008. According to Reuters, COO Ahmad Julfar said Etisalat was in talks to acquire an existing operator which has a licence covering a limited area in Iraq, and that the UAE-based company planned to later extend its services across the country. He did not name the local operator in question, however.
