Verizon, Nokia 100Gbps trial

18 Sep 2008

Verizon Communications and Nokia Siemens Networks have revealed they have successfully concluded a trial demonstration of 100Gbps transmission. The test took place over 1,040 of deployed fibre in March 2008 and showed that 100Gbps traffic can be simultaneously transmitted with any mix of 10Gbps and 40Gbps on a normal 80-channel system. It will enable operators to extend the lifetime of existing fibre cable networks while still achieving the capacities required for expanding bandwidth requirements
