Telefonica has until 7 October to decide on compensation claim

17 Sep 2008

Telefonica de Argentina is considering keeping on hold its compensation claim filed against the government in 2003, reports BNamericas citing local paper El Cronista. The telco filed a USD2.8 billion claim for damages in response to government-imposed restrictions on the company following the country’s financial crisis. It has until 7 October to decide whether to proceed with the claim or maintain the suspension. Telefonica’s fixed line telephony tariffs have been frozen since 2001.
