Spanish cable operator ONO has announced that it will launch new broadband packages offerings download speeds of up to 100Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5Mbps on 15 October. The new services will initially be offered in Madrid only, reaching approximately 700,000 households over ten municipalities. Prices for double-play package offering telephone calls and broadband at 50Mbps download speeds will be EUR60 (USD85.29) while the same package with 100Mbps download speeds will be EUR80. In the statement ONO confirmed that, as required by recently introduced government policy, speeds received by customers signing up would be at least 80% of the advertised figure. The cableco also announced that it has invested more than EUR8 billion in its network infrastructure so far and claimed it now has coverage of over 6.9 million households across Spain.
