China Mobile: too big to compete?

17 Sep 2008

The Oriental Morning Post is reporting that Beijing is working on regulations designed to limit China Mobile’s ability to compete in the provision of broadband services, restricting the company to developing such services solely out of China Tietong’s resources. The regulations will apparently be passed following China Mobile’s merger with China Tietong, and are designed to prevent the company from launching a wholesale offensive against China Telecom and the new China Unicom in the broadband arena.
