Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has extended the reach of its SLT Metro Ethernet fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) project to support voice, data and broadband internet services in more regions of the country. The high-end SLT Metro Ethernet services provide very high speed broadband solutions for business users and SMEs. The service is currently available via SLT’s fibre-optic core ring network which connects Colombo Central, Slave Island, Liberty Plaza, Havelock Town and Maradana at speeds of up to 10Gbps. In addition, a further 13 fibre rings have been deployed in these areas, it said, offering a maximum transmission of 10Gbps. The operator claims to have connected more than 110 high rise tower buildings in Colombo which it says are currently leased to the vast majority of the country’s leading corporates.
