Numericable’s fibre service tops 100,000 mark

French cable TV and broadband internet provider Numericable says it has 104,200 people signed up to its very high speed fibre-optic service, compared with just 14,200 at rival Orange France. According to Rapid TV News, Numericable’s subscriber base is mostly concentrated in and around the Paris region and ten other cities. In total, Numericable has capacity for up to 2.7 million fibre-optic connections. It has around 3.5 million basic TV customers, 930,000 internet users and 650,000 mobile subscribers – using Bouygues Telecom’s network to offer a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service.
