AT&T is upgrading its U-verse fibre-based broadband and TV service to offer multiple digital video recorders in a customer’s home. The so-called multi-room or whole-home DVR would allow recorded shows to be viewed on up to eight TV sets around the home. The technology is already available on the FiOS platform which has been deployed by rival operator Verizon Communications. A report from The Wall Street Journal says that AT&T is already offering the upgrade in San Francisco and it will be available nationwide by the end of this year. The DVR option is free to all U-verse subscribers.
