Telecom Italia will hang onto media unit

8 Sep 2008

Telecom Italia says it has no plans to sell its media unit Telecom Italia Media or its TV operations, which include the channels La7 and MTV Italia. The firm has announced, however, that it will be implementing a cost-cutting programme at its media division, Reuters reports. Separately, Telecom Italia’s CEO Franco Bernabe says that the telco has no interest in acquiring the Italian or UK operations of Sardinia-based ISP Tiscali, though it may make a bid for what it calls ‘a few minor assets’.
