DTAC doubles 3G investment

Thai cellco DTAC has earmarked additional investment of THB5 billion (USD145 million) for its plan to roll out 3G mobile infrastructure and commercial services in the first half of next year, writes the Bangkok Post. The country’s second largest GSM operator by subscribers perviously slated THB5 billion to make 3G available ‘nationwide’ by mid-2009 whilst increasing network capacity and developing a range of 3G content services. The Telenor subsidiary’s CEO Sigve Brekke said that an additional THB5 billion is needed to ensure the company’s competitive leadership in 3G services in areas of nationwide network coverage, high speed mobile broadband and innovative content.
