Broadband TV News is reporting that Poland’s four wireless network operators have stolen a march on other prospective bidders hoping to secure a mobile TV licence, a tender for which is due to take place this October. According to the report, the four companies – P4 (Play), Orange Poland, Polkomtel and PTC – are preparing a joint bid in which they will promise to make a future mobile TV service unconditionally available to broadcasters. Anna Strezynska, the president of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), has described such an approach as an ‘interesting idea’.
