Datacom attracting interest from foreign players

Mexican mobile telephony giant America Movil (AM) is reported to be among four telcos debating the potential of entering the Indian market through new license holder Datacom, The Times of India is reporting. Datacom is a prime target for foreign investment with Etisalat, Turkcell, and another unnamed major European teleco, understood to be considering the purchase of up to 51% of the Indian operator; the estimated value of the company is believe to be USD3 billion. Datacom’s current stakeholders, Videocon and Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (HFCL) own 64% and 36% respectively.
