29 Aug 2008

Slovenia’s dominant wireline service provider, Telekom Slovenije, has released its financial results for the six months ended 30 June 2008, reporting a 5% rise in net profit year-on-year. The telco attributed the growth to trends in the market, noting that it expects fixed telephony revenues to continue to fall, whilst mobile and broadband revenues should offset the drop. The operator’s broadband subscriber base performed strongly, rising 41% over the twelve months from 258,214 to 365,115 at the end of June 2008.Telekom Slovenije reiterated its forecast for the year, confirming that it expects to see full year growth for both revenues and net profits; the operator’s current guidance is for revenues to climb 9% over the twelve month period, surpassing the EUR785.9 million (USD1.15 billion) it generated in 2007.
