Telenet ties up with Sonus Networks for expansion plans

28 Aug 2008

Belgian cable operator Telenet has inked a deal with American vendor Sonus Networks for services and technology aimed at allowing Telenet to extend its broadband-based services. The agreement will see Telenet utilise Sonus’ Network Border Switch (NBS) to enhance its VoIP services, with the cableco targeting businesses with the upgraded offerings. Peter Michiels, SVP Networks and System Engineering at Telenet said, ‘As we offer new services to our more demanding business customers, it is critical to our success to choose a solution that is scalable, reliable, manageable, secure and integrates into our existing infrastructure. The technology from Sonus was the only solution to satisfy our rigorous selection criteria across all measures.’ No financial details of the deal have been revealed.
