StarHub unveils new, fully-fledged VoD service

20 Aug 2008

Singaporean cable TV, broadband and telephony provider StarHub today launched a full video-on-demand (VoD) service, claiming to put TV viewing control fully in the hands of its users. Until now the operator has offered a near VoD service, whereby users could tune in every quarter hour for their show selection to begin. In a press release, Patrick Lim, head of Cable TV Services, Services & Solutions, said ‘near VoD was a good indication to us to open up a wider range of content… Today’s customers really want control and convenience’. StarHub reported 511,000 pay-TV subscribers at the end of June but admits it is seeing strong competition from SingTel’s rival IPTV service mio TV.
