ETB to merge with Etell

Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB) plans to merge with local telco Etell according to BNAmericas, citing a report in local newspaper La Republica. ETB paid COP20.4 billion (USD11 million) for a 95% stake in Etell last year. The local governments of Meta and Villavicencio, former shareholders in Etell, will become ETB shareholders, according to the paper. Etell is located in Meta and offers fixed line, fixed wireless and pre-paid local telephony, as well as dial-up and broadband internet. It currently has approximately 38,300 fixed telephony subscribers and 8,400 broadband customers.
