Venezuela’s president Hugo Chavez says that his country will launch its first satellite on 1 November, to increase its self-sufficiency in communications including internet and television, reports The Associated Press. The Chinese-made satellite, to be launched from China’s Sichuan province, will cover several Latin American nations, Chavez said on his weekly television programme, and added that Venezuela intends to launch a second satellite in the coming years.
