PLDT Subic Telecom, a wholly owned subsidiary of Filipino telecoms operator Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT), has announced the completion of its upgrade and says it is ready to launch a range of advanced broadband and telecoms services in the Freeport Zone. According to the unit’s general manager Henry B Abes, some of the new products will mirror those offered by its parent in Metro Manila and other provinces nationwide. In recent years PLDT has been expanding the reach and capacity of its next generation network (NGN) technology and high-capacity digital fibre-optic network nationwide, and Subic Telecom hopes to capitalise on the upgraded PLDT infrastructure.
The unit recently changed its name from Subic Telecommunications Company to PLDT Subic Telecom, to signify its renewed strong relationship with its parent company.
