Unwired WiMAX launch delayed again

12 Aug 2008

Australian mobile internet provider Unwired is to further delay the commercial launch of its nationwide WiMAX network, reports Australian IT. Unwired, a subsidiary of Network Investment Holdings Limited (NIH), currently offers CDMA-based services in Melbourne and Sydney but has been planning expansions and upgrades to its network since last year; these have been twice delayed, in August 2007 and February 2008. It is reported however that testing of the network has now begun, and the operator is hoping that these tests will enable it to finalise a financial structure for the services; Unwired still expects a commercial launch in this financial year.
